Birding

Martin Mere

Been over to Martin Mere today. Part of the Wetland Trust I believe.

Have to say that I did not really enjoyed it. I usually get the feeling that I am visiting a wildlife area with a few well placed areas for viewing.

This time it felt like a Zoo.

I guess it would be good for childrena nd the infirm but it was not for me.

There were hundreds of cars in the car park so it must be popular.

Ah well. Can say we have been there.

After a year of considering getting a new mobile phone, I finally got one yesterday.

Hoorah.

I had been waiting to decide if I needed an all singing, all dancing mobile office that would catapult me to a be captain of industry.

In the end I found one that makes calls and does texts and some other things that just confuse the hell out of me.

At the moment I kind of love it and hate it. The music and video and are great. The GPS looks potentially good. Web browsing is frustratingly slow and inconsistent. I kind of find how to do something (like email) then forget how I did it.

The one thing for sure is that I am getting old. I need glasses to read the bugger. Sigh....

Caught in a trap

Here she is. Super Squirrel. Or that little F****R as I have called her for the last 4 weeks.

Turns out that she was in the loft when we cemented up the entrance. For nearly a week she has had no food or water.

We put a webcam in the loft and a little food in her trap and she was caught!

Not sure who was more relieved when we let her go in the garden.

Just back from the Lake District.

Trees and I decided a bit of outdoor adventure was in order. I had watched Julia Bradbury go up a reasonably large mountain called Catbells and decided this was the one for us. Following in Wainwright footsteps.

The added fun of a boat ride across Derwentwater to get to the foot of the mountain just made it irresistible.

The night before had seen gale force winds and driving rain. Today was just the same as we reached the peak. We were mighty glad to get up and down safely.

These are the pictures before the storms started. My fingers have just warmed up enough to type. We were going to get a piccie on the top together but we had a sudden urge to get back down quickly.

Chnage of contract

I have moved on. My contract with a famous pharmaceutical company has come to an end. I am now on board for a minimum 6 month contract with a well known high street bank.

It is sometimes like an old school reunion. Keith Bullock, Stephen Costello, Colin Rowland, Dave Fitpatrick, Chris Johns and Ian Milbourne. There are also many other people I have come across before but do not have a direct relationship.

Ah well, hopefully I will get an extension to 12 months. As a contractor I cannot stay beyond 12 months. I can take 2 months off then go back if there are opportunities. 3 months off next year sounds just spot on to me!

A day at Leighton Moss

The three of us decided a day in the country was in order. Or... Trees and I did and Lauren came along anyway.

Visited the RSPB at Leighton Moss. Lots of coffee, food and paddling through water to spot some lovely birds.
