Training
Ennerdale Horseshoe here we come
Dan and I are off on another great adventure today. This time it is the Ennerdale Horseshoe.
Originaly we were just going up Pillar as the last of the best Wainwrights. But no, we have to go the whole hog and do the the Horseshoe.
Was planning to carry a tent and cooking stuff with us but at 25 miles and 8,000 feet I have decided we are best moving a little lighter on our feet. Tentative plan is to head back to the car as it goes dark. We can then decide whether we camp or head back home.
To add to the fun, I went out for meal last night and emptied the contents of my stomach down the loo. I am drinking for fun this morning, trying to replace the fluids.
Knowing Dan and I, we will be back before lunch having decided to do something completely different. Cannot remember the last time we kept to a plan!
Run and cycle
Just been out to keep Trees company on her 11km walk tonight.
I decided to take the cycle and do pyramid sprints for an hour. All went well until I got a puncture. Long walk home trotting with my cycle and flat tyre.
It is all exercise I guess.
Only lost half a pound in weight last week. Just what I expected based upon my calorie counting. Had hoped for a minor miracle but I guess they never happen.
Onwards and upwards.
5km 25.39
key marker last night. 5km with Stephen and Mark on the run in to my 50 min 10km attempt in October.
Need to take one minute off my 5km to be on target for my 10km goal.
Also need to move from 15st to 14st 3lbs as part of the final big push. Calorie counting at the moment. Allowing for exercise, I ate 1248 calories yesterday versus a target of 1,700. Good start but cannot keep it up. On days where I do not exercise I will struggle. I also need to ensure I have enough fuel to exercise or I will become injured or depressed. Bit of a fine line.
49:59 here we come! Only waited 18 years for it!
Trees Power Walker
Trees has taken to Power Walking.
5km last night and 10km tonight. I am sooo struggling to keep up. managed it last night with much grumbling. Tonight I had to run 5km of it.
I am now buggered. Bless her and all her tiny steps.
me on Great Gable
Me descending off Great Gable. Slightly slower than your average Hippo but with a massive smile on my face.

Great Gable
Another great adventure complete.
The usual story. Stephen, Dan and Tony. 27km of walking. 2,000 feet of climb. Driving Rain. Mist covered peaks. Clinging on to rock faces as we ascend. Ankle breaking descents over boulder fields. Broken walking poles. Fingers bloated from grabbing icy boulders. So cold you cannot stop shaking. Arguments about direction. Name calling. Swearing. Moaning. Complaining. Bitching.
Oh, and then there was the chorus of snoring walkers. The sweat of too many men in a single Youth Hostel bunk room. The car stinking of flatulance. 10 hours of catch me, carry me driving. Delusions of enrichment.
Yep, loved every single second of it. When can we finish the job and go up Pillar? Bring it on!
Newton-Le-Willows Triathlon
Just finished the Newton-Le-Willows Sprint Triathlon with Dan, Colin and Cameron. On paper I was the slowest, in reality I was the slowest. 12 months of training and still cannot hold the pace. Everyone looked fitter and faster. No one will give any ground. True competition.
