Just back from the Lake District.

Trees and I decided a bit of outdoor adventure was in order. I had watched Julia Bradbury go up a reasonably large mountain called Catbells and decided this was the one for us. Following in Wainwright footsteps.

The added fun of a boat ride across Derwentwater to get to the foot of the mountain just made it irresistible.

The night before had seen gale force winds and driving rain. Today was just the same as we reached the peak. We were mighty glad to get up and down safely.

These are the pictures before the storms started. My fingers have just warmed up enough to type. We were going to get a piccie on the top together but we had a sudden urge to get back down quickly.

Bulls or Cows - 2 hour run

Managed to get in a 2 hour run this morning over Bickerton Hill.

Popped down a trail to find this small herd between me and the way back home. The question on my mind was are they cows or bulls?

Turns out they were are bulls. I moved little quicker than my usual plod.

Caught in a trap

Here she is. Super Squirrel. Or that little F****R as I have called her for the last 4 weeks.

Turns out that she was in the loft when we cemented up the entrance. For nearly a week she has had no food or water.

We put a webcam in the loft and a little food in her trap and she was caught!

Not sure who was more relieved when we let her go in the garden.

Persistent squirrel

You would have thought that Super Squirrel would have had enough after being locked away without food and water for a week then unceremoniously dragged outside in a cage.

I thought wrong. 7am this morning she as tearing up lead flashing on our roof to try and get back inside.

I knew I should have released the furry fiend somewhere else.

Trees the fish

Trees has just done 34 lengths front crawl. For someone who could not do half a length, that is some going.

Well done Flipper.

The family fit

Good day for training yesterday.

Trees go out for a 3 mile run. I waddled behind. I also managed a 25km hill ride in the gym followed by a 6 mile run with Ian across the Cheshire planes later in the day.

I have followed this up with a 6k lunch time run today.

This is the last week of my Joe Friel base phase training. I have a 5 hour run this weekend before I go in to more specific speed and force training. That will be 3 months of "Build Phase" training.

5 hours. Tired just thinking about it.

My weight is down to 14st 9 pounds. The addition of daily lunch runs has helped the weight loss.

Daniel has been struck down by the dreaded lurgy. One way to lose weight.

More adventures please

The very best moment in any long journey that makes dreams come true, comes not on the day you realize they have, but on the day you realize how little they matter compared to loving the adventure they've inspired.
