Useless Blog

Not been able to update the blog for a few days because the blog service has been down. This happens quite often.

I have a number of times thought about moving to somewhere else to write my blog but I am worried I will lose all my history to date. One day when I get a little time aside I might do something about it.

Anyway, been keeping up the training but having got over a cold I know have a back twinge so that weight training stopped after 2 sessions. Not good. I also had to pull out of a nike 10km time trial yesterday as ther pain was too much.

I am going to rest up for two days completely to see how I go. You cannot imagine hopw hard it is not to train. I have been doing this constantly for 14 weeks and have moved from 16st 2 to 14st 9. Hard to stop in your tracks you know.

Lauren the Princess is over this weekend so I am looking forward to a rest and some time with my girls.

Get my walking stick..

The old bones finaly crumbled and collapsed on Saturday evening.

After fighting man flu and and aching back for a few weeks my back decided to spasm as I got out of the bath on Saturday evening. Just before I was due to put on my penguin outfit and go to the Xmas ball.

I was left curled up on the bed feeling sorry for myself whilst everyone was out partying.

Good thing is I got the excuse to stay in bed from Saturday evening to Monday morning. Heaven!

Back on my feet today but taking it easy. Back feels good after the long rest. Lets see if holds up to a day of travelling and in the office tomorrow.

If all goes well it will be a light run Wednesday. If not, more rest.

I can hear Joe Friel tutting all the way from North America.

Dan reckons my core is weak. Could be right.

Back update

The back appears to have held out for another night and day.

Can feel a little tension but appears to be good enough. Going to try and jog in the morning. Whoopee, up at 5am again to run in the dark. Bring it on.

Hope the back holds out. Fingers crossed.

2 hours of heaven

Just back from a 2 hour run on the Sandstone Trail.

Feels good to be back on the trails after a small break from training to give the back a rest.

I have no survived 2 runs and a swim. Cannot say the back feels good but want to get the training on plan again.

Stephen is 8 weeks in to a threshold type training plan. Kind of run at a minimum pace then increase the distance you survive week on week.

Dan has been training well and longer than me so I need to keep up with the two of them.

Cycle and Run

Managed to get ont he road for 6am on Monday to get over to the gym.

Tried and cylcle session in the gym with a straight back. Cannot say the back feels good but cannot say it feels bad either. Kind of stiff but probably just a sore as other joints like my knees and shoulders.

Think I will just run and swim this week and see if next week I can bring in a couple of cycles. The following week I will try stretching and light weights. Kind of outs me a few weeks behind plan but not a great deal I can do.

Managed to put on 4 pounds in 2 weeks. How does that happen then? I know we have been testing out christmas cake and the like but 14,000 calories extra in 2 weeks. I don't think so. Wonder of I have been dehydrated for a while? Who knows?

Managed another run tonight in the gym. 30 minutes of threshold running on a treadmill. 10 minutes each at levels 10, 11 and 12. Got a feeling my Threshold has gone up as I was running at near 170 bpm for a good while when my threshold is supposed to be 152 bpm. At 152 I do not feel in the slightest out of breath. In fact, I can comfortably breath through my nose. Maybe another fitness test is on the cards to check if my fitness has improved. Good to know but more important is that I train at the right levels.

Swim

Managed a blast in the pool yesterday afternoon. 100 metre technique splits.

Strange how sometimes you can feel very slow and heavy in the water.
