Princess Lauren and Lady Sophie

The girls are over for the weekend.

They are both on half term breaks from schools so came over Thursday evening after Lauren had her second tooth out in the week. Lauren is having a brace fitted so two of her teeth had to come out. Lauren is being very brave. Quite good where dentists are concerned.

By chance I was having a filling on Friday as well. Needed to fill a space between 2 back teethe where food was getting stuck. A little sore to start with but fine now.

We all went over for a small bonfire and firework display last night. Quite nice and local with a gigantic fire for a small pub. The fireworks did not live up to the same standard. 4 of them and one of the rockets went off on the ground. Yikes. Drunken men and fireworks do not go together.

Off cycling with Dan around Llandegla this morning. Stephen has man flu. Then we are off for a council bonfire tonight. Really enjoyed it last year.

Dan the flying man

On Saturday morning Daniel Lee invited me to a ride around the Llandegla mountain bike trail.

Always entertaining at the best of time he added to the entertainment by performing to death defying leaps off his bike. The first being an over the handle bars leap when he ran out of log run and pitched over the side. I missed the action but his knackered gears and gashes down his body left me no doubt he had gone off big style.

The secong leap from his bike saw him navigate (or should I say try to navigate) a difficult left right between trees which saw his bike go one and and his body the other.

I guess MTB is dangerous and I showed suitable concern at the time. On reflection though I am still giggling.

I have to state that I did not even try the log run. Came close to the edge once then walked the rest. Dan however says he is going to get all the way across next time. He suggest lying in bed visualising crossing the logs with confidence and ease. All I see when I close my eyes is him catapulting over the handlebars.

So we survived another off road adventure. Yee Haaaa as Dan would say. We are both looking stronger and fitter compared to the last run around that trail. Bring it on.

Orienteering

Having done a 100 minute ride around Llandegla on Saturday morning I decided that was not enough so went over to Delamere forest for a spot of Orienteering this morning.

It has been a long time since I entered a full badge event and ran head to head with those gifted with both fitness and natural direction. I now remember why I did 100s of these events. Because they are just fantastic fun.

Couple of firsts. I ran in the M45 classification.... and..... I actualy ran past competitors up the hills and over the rough terrain! Me overtaking... passing... leaving behind others... what ever next.

True to form I screwed up one control in a deep spruce wood. But who cares, 85 minutes of adventure.

Must do more orienteering.

Paula Radcliffe

Go Paul go.

Fantastic win in the New York Marathon on Sunday.

9 months being pregnant, 8 months being a mum and recovering from an injury and Paula beats the best in the world at her first race. It was inspring to see her grind out a well earned victory.

Inspires me to get out of bed at 4.45 in the morning and run, run, run...... 65 minutes with dan this morning along the Bollin Valley. Yesterday afternoon I fired off 60 lengths in the pool. Bring it on.

Picked up my Fitness First membership last night so it is off to the gym any morning I am not out and about with Dan.

Work and training

Not a great deal to report at the moment. Just feels like taining, work and sleep.

Joined Total Fitness so was at the gym yesterday morning for the first time. Managed thrity minutes cycle followed by 30 minutes run. Practice for the Triatlon cycle to run transition. All went well apart from I managed to forget some clothes so had to scoot off the M&S for some replacements.

Needed to join the gym because it is too dark to train in the mornings now and it allows much more flexibility for the different elements of the training.

Day before was an early morning run for 65 mins along the Bollin Valley with Dan.

My boss came over from Philadelphia yesterday so met him face to face for the first time yesterday since starting. Great guy, he did a Marathon in 3 hours week before last. If only I had that natural talent.

Ah well. Waddle on...

Blog down

Blog has been down for a few days. 20six quite regularly have issues with connectivity. I also think it has quite basic functionality compared to other more well known blog services. Makes me wonder whether I should move to my space or something similar. But I would lose all my history. Might have a think about it for a while.

So what I have I been up to? Yep, you guessed right. More training. Went orienteering yesterday at Piethorn near Rochdale. Good run but bad navigation. Nice to meet Simon Filmore again. His wife Jude and their son Jack were around but did not manage to meet them.

Had a rest on Saturday after 7 days straight training. By eck I needed a rest. Not sure one day rest is enough but we will see.

Lots of things going on in life but they generally have to be kept to myself. Either the individuals involved do not want me to tell the world about their life or it involves work which is probably not a prudent thing to blog about.

Went out for a meal Thursday night with the boss and a few others. Had a big meal and a desert. Thought I was getting a little podge only to find I have lost 2 pounds weight this morning. Looks like the constant training is slighty outweighing the constant eating at the mo!

Just got results from the Piethorn orienteering event last Sunday.

Although I ran strong I made a number of navigational errors that made my time quite slow. Got the results through today and I got myself a Bronze Standard.

Will not mean a lot to most people and by most Orienteering standards I am not setting the world alight. For me however I believe it is a first. I actually got a standard and I have much quicker times in me if I can keep the navigation under control whilst I am moving quicker.

There is a fantastic route gadget available that allows people to tack against each other on the map. If only the computer could run for me, I would win every time.

Having done 8 major sessions in 9 days I have decided to take a few days off. Basically did no training on Monday and Tuesday. Got things back under way this morning with a light 45 minutes cycle in the gym this morning.

Don't I just love that 5am out of bed feeling. Yummy...
