Welney Wetland and Wildlife Trust
Visited a fantastic wetland area on Saturday. Based in Norfolk I can see us visiting it many times when we see Gary and the family.

The sun was out and there were not too many people around. Stunning scenery and a number of birds I rarely see or have never seen. Stunning and peaceful.
A few of those I recognised:
Shelduck
Avocet
Garganey
Wigeon
Black Tailed Godwit
Shoveler
Greylag Goose
Little Ringed Plover
Female Marsh Harrier
Cuckoo (heard only)
Mute Swan
Ruff
Redshank
Dunlin
Lapwing
catch up
Done it again. Not had time to blog. Quick catch up.
Travelled down south to have a great weekend with Gary, Carol and the family.
Lovely day on the Saturday at WWT reserve.
Popped over to Kings Lynn for stock car racing. Met an ex world champion (Roy).
Had a BBQ on the Sunday. Sad to go home in the evening.
Had an hour or so run along the Ouse. Loads of wildlife.
Been working since.
Went orienteering at Alyn Waters Tuesday.
Man United battered in the Champions League semi final. Yah Boo!
Getting my girl tonight.
Working tomorrow.
Travelling down to the Caravan with Gary and family late tomorrow for fun, sun and loads of fishing.
Bring it on!
Busy, Busy, Busy
Another pit stop update. Must rush, been the most fantastic month with even more to come:
Picked Lauren up Thursday evening for a long weekend together. Bank Holiday in the UK. Don't you just love them.
Headed off down to Gary's caravan late Friday. The Tom Tom would have had us off to Glasgow but I resisted it's instructions. Arrived late but happy to be out and about. The 5 of us filled every spare space in and outside the caravan.
Bright and early start on Saturday saw me with fishing rod tempting a dozen small fish to join me on the bank. Moved later in the day to go for the big fish. No luck.
Barbara (and Alex) did us a slap up evening meal out in the sunshine. Home made (no sure who's home) steak pie. Yum yum.
Sunday morning was up and at them bright and early. Every Sunday at the caravan is car boot sale. Buy a houseful of goods for tenner. Best buy of the morning was a cheese burger for breakfast.
Popped out to Tesco's with trees for a chicken and salad evening meal.
Sunday afternoon was back to the lakes to tempt those fish again. Took a lot of time and patience but was rewarded with a great 6lb tench. They put up a fantastic fight.
Even tempted Lauren to have a 10 minute fish.
Monday morning both trees and I were up early to get out for a run. I wandered off for 95 minutes along a river that turned out to be the river Ouse for the second week running. Once again there were Heron, Cormorant, Willow Warblers and other wildlife to distract me along the way.
John, Carol and the family arrived mid morning. Popped over to the St Ives Market. Once again, fill your house for a tenner.
John brought a home made meal to send us on our way home.
Was that the end of the long weekend? No. Dropped Pat and Lauren off before we met Paul at The Palace Theatre to watch The Producers. What a wonderful show.
Slumped in bed late with the biggest grin on my face.
There was so much more to the weekend but who has the time to do it justice?
Got more to come this week. Daniel get's his new off road bike today. I am orienteering in Delamere tomorrow evening and we are off to climb Ben Nevis on Friday. Bring it on.
Trees was quick off the mark to get a picture of this wren last week.

Ben Nevis
Just back from Ben Nevis. This is the adventurers at the highest point in the British Isles. This means we were the 4 highest people in the Isles for just that moment. Enjoyed every step of the 7 hour journey.
