Busy weekend

Let me at my bed. Busy weekend.

Trees has been resting up as she is on a secret mission that needs lots of rest. Rightly so I therefore have to get on with the day to day stuff that needs doing.

To add to the activites Lauren has been over this weekend. We needed to get over to Wrexham on Saturday to get some birthday shopping done. Great to just be the two of us doing thinmgs together.

Saturday evening it lashed it down and the driving winds were just fantastic. Trees and I were staring out the window at 03.00 this morning watching the storm. Winter is here!

Having said I have been busy I managed a lie in on Saturday morning with a read of a good book I cannot put down.

Went for a 10k road race this morning with young Danny. He did fantastic (52 mins) I did absolutely awfull (59 mins). Parts of the course were a foot deep in water after the evening storms. The second half of the course was in to driving winds and rain. People were being blown across the roads.

Popped over to get a boot full of bird food after the run. 70kg of the stuff.

Picked up Christmas tree on saturday so that went up this evening. Will start the decoration tomorrow hopefully.

Dropped Lauren off tonnight then went to see mum at the hospital. She had a bad day yesterday when her one and only kidney packed in after the operation. It came back to life after some diallisis (?) thankfully. When I arrived tonight she was planning to leave hospital Thursday if she is well enough to look after herself. None of the rest of the family have been to see her and are not planning to by the look of it.

So, I am back home now. Still lots to do before I get tucked in bed.

Still busy

Feet have still not touched the floor.

Work has been busy as I am standing in for a PM who is not in the office for the December period. There have also been many operational problems to muddy the waters.

Met Danny Lee Monday evening and a colleague Brian. Chewed the fat over opportunities and directions. Got the feeling Brian did not have a high opinion of me and I was right waste of time. Ah well, me mum loves me.

Talking of me mum. She checked herself out of the hospital Monday after on 3 days of recovery from the operation. Popped over to see her tonight with Lauren. Organised some money and shopping for her. The district nurse will pop in to see her Friday as will Aunt Joan.

Traffic is becoming unbearable as Xmas approaches. 2 hours to get Lauren and get to mums.

Christmas tree went up yesterday evening. Meant a trip to the loft and back a few times. We have gone for an 8 foot in the conservatory this year. Looks great. Last years decorations look so dated; looks like a trip this weekend to get some new ones. Came home tonight to find Trees had put the Blackpool illuminations around the fireplace.

Trees is still on her secret mission that involves taking it easy!

The girls are here

Helen and Nats came round to give Trees some support on her secret mission. It was only a few minutes before there were tears and lots of hugs.

Think it was just what Trees needed.

To add to a great evening it was time to give Nats her birthday presents. Nats has managed to arrive at the ripe old age of 30. They celebrated the occasion with a trip to Cork shortly after a two week trip to New York.

It was also a good excuse to dig out cakes and mince pies. Well it is Christmas. This was on top of the rather delicious meal Pat had cooked for me. Yum, yum.

Fred and the Vet

Just taken Fred the cat to the Vet.

The car has a lovely odour of vomit, urine and doo doo. MMmmmm nice.

The trip was for her yearly vaccination. She (yes I know she has a boys name) was healthy 4.2kg.

To make up for the vomit Fred went straight to her food to fill the gap.

Nice pleasant start to the day!

Christmas lights

Our house is now doing an even better impression of Blackpool illuminations.

I braved the icy winds and rain to put up two sets of lights outside the house then set about decorations and lights inside the house.

Hope we get visitors this year!

Conwy

Decided a day out and about was in order today.

Managed to drag ourselves out of bed and on the road by 1pm after a very restless night for both of us.

First stop was the new Cafe Nero in Hyde. Have to say they are so much better than Starbucks and you can get a coffee under £2. It has only been open 2 weeks but I have already managed to sample at least 5 Mocha.

After that we were both supercharged to drive across to Conwy to the RSPB bird reserve along the estuary. They have a new coffee shop you know.

The wind was blowign a gale and driving rain. Tried one of the hides but found we were looking straight in to the wind and rain. Walked around the other side of the lakes to find a much more cosy hide to sit a watch.

Hightlight had to be the starlings coming in to roost as the light dropped towards the end of the day. There must have be tens of thousands. Fantastic.

Had drive down to betsw y coed for a pub fish and chips on the way home.

Was supposed to be spending some time with Daniel Lee and doing some running today. Dan was recovering from a night out with the karate club and I had the call of the wild. Sometimes you have to let go of the important stuff and just have some fun.

Fred to the Vet - Part 2

Having taken Fred (the cat) to the Vet Saturday we were back there again tonight. This time with a cough that a smoker would be proud of.

Two injections, a box of pills and £35 later we are back home.

Small fry compared to another £230 to have my brakes done for the second time this year. Apparently my seized handbrake hard worn down one of my rear brakes. Could not possibly have been an issue created by the garage who changed them only six months ago!

I think I have spent nearly £2,000 fixing that pile of tin in the last 2 years. I soooo see the value of it! You know how cars give me so much fun.
