The smell of the Atlantic and the views over the Donegal Bay are now a thing of the past. Back to work! I ho.

Cheered myself up with a long slow run yesterday evening over the Sandstone trail. Strangely I found it harder to run slow than at threshold pace and the tendonitis was noticeable. Maybe the new Innov8 Mudclaw that are too hard on the heels. Managed 80 minutes, 150m climb and 10k through the woods and trails. Got home late but it was worth it.

Trafford Centre

Popped over to Trafford Centre yesterday evening. Trees, Helen and Nats were meeting up for a general girly talk and I guess to plan for the wedding.

I dropped by a few manly outdoor type shops before walking around bookshops looking for holiday reading inspiration. Manage to pick up one book by John Bingham before descending upon Starbucks for a quick read and a coffee.

Finished off the evening with a trip to John Lewis to pick up a case before dropping Nats off at home.

Worked late

Nothing exciting to report on last night. Worked late in preparation for holiday next week. Could not train as I have pulled a shoolder muscle during stretching.

Work

Worked late again to try and ensure everything has been done before my last day tomorrow before Turkey.

Managed a Yasso 4 x 800m at 4:00 and under before going to pick Trees and Carole from Chester.

Turkey here we come

Off to Turkey this afternoon for two weeks.

We have a villa, pool and a beach near by. There are shops, restaurants and bars somewhere in the vicinity. Got passport and money. Don't need to know any other details. Just get me on the plane in time.

Managed an 8 mile undulating run along the Sandstone Trail yesterday followed by a meal over at Frankie and Bennies with the Cleverleys. Gary tagged along as he has brought Katie Ann up for the trip to Turkey. Policeman Paul joined us out of the blue.

Lauren and Katie did last minute shopping in Wrexham yesterday. Danny and I have our running kit in the cases. We should be all set for fun in the sun.

Turkish Baths

I guess you would either hate it or love it. I loved it!

In your best Speedo's you are first herded into a sauna where you sit for 15 minutes in temperatures that are probably not legal. Straight out of that in to the plunge pool.

You are then herded in to a steam room. The steam is fired in at floor level. Anyone unprepared gets scolded ankles. From there you are plunged in to a Jacuzzi..

The herd is then rounded up in to a large sunlit marble room where you are laid out face down to cook for 15 minutes on the marble slabs. It is an interesting sight to see the herd lay out on slabs.

After a 15 minute lie down you are then laid out individually to be rubbed down by a rather burley Turkish man who basically rubs every inch of your skin with what feels like a glove of wire wool. My nipples particularly liked that bit.

Having removed all dead skin you are then taken to a small room where you are covered with soap suds and washed down my a much less burley Turkish man.

You are now spotlessly clean if not a little sore and invaded.

The ultimate is then saved for the last. Another burley Turkish man treats you to a bone cracking all over massage.

Heaven!
