People update
Went for a meal with Kwai last night. Not seen him for a while. Had a few opportunities to talk through. It was good to see him and his enthusiasm. He is off to Greece for a week. He is off to China later in the year. Cannot wait for our holiday in Turkey later in the year; not quite China but it will be good to relax with Trees and Lauren for an extended period.
By the time I got home Trees had finished her session with Anne the personal trainer and was dead on her feet. Trees went straight to bed for a well earned 9 hours sleep. I stayed around the house doing 2 hours of stretching and stomach exercises. I seriously need to get a life.
Forgot to mention that Daniel Lee has been to and returned from Belgium for a Karate related visit. Looks like he is off to Asia later in the year to see his Sensei. All sounds very exciting but dangerous to me. We are planning a few fell races and a trip up Ben Nevis some time next year. Kind of pisses me off that I train like a loony for running specific extreme events and he still kicks my arse. Is life fair? I would not mind but he is heavier than me as well. GGrrrrr..
Meeting Tony Gill and Debs on Saturday in Wilmslow. Looks like the 4 of us will lunch with the beautiful people. I have seen Rio Ferdinand, David Beckham, Andy Cole and a number of other people there before now. Oh and Noddy Holder. How cool!
John and Maerwins' dog Jake died a week or so ago. John and Jake were partners in the police force. It was very sad for John. Trees got all upset for both of them.
Stephen is settling in well at O2. Great to have his skills around. Very comforting.
Physio lady again
Went to see that very nice lady again last night. Appears that I am not capable of flexing my heel joints enough to stretch my lower tendons around my heel. I have gristle that has grown in places that restricts my movement. This means I cannot stretch out my ankle niggles.
So, the plan is that I stretch the best I can, complete the Mountain Marathon's over the next 6 weeks, go for regular physio and then think about going to a specialist.
I have decided to give the old bones a rest for a few days. Not planning to train until Monday. Got ants in my pants already. I have a 500 metre swim on Sunday as part of a team Triathlon. That will be lung busting but over a short sprint.
Great Saturday
The day started well with a nine hour sleep. I read recently that all great fell runners sleep 8 hours per night. So, if I can sleep for 8 hours each night I might never be last again. Yes!
Popped over to Wilmslow to see The One and Only Gills. Great to see Tony and Debs. Hugged Debs so hard I broke my Bloc sunglasses. Had a very nice lunch sat at a street table watching the beautiful people go by and catching up on life. So much has happened since we last met. Life speeds by!
Wilmslow never changes. 4 top of the range shining black 4 x 4, an Aston Martin, a Ferrari and many other wonderful cars all on one block. Oh how the other half live.
Got back to Oswestry just in time for Trees to get a cut and trim and for me to get my chest hair darkened. Might get the chest hair permed next time. Also had my hair cut whilst the chest hair was drying.
Then just got back in time to get the Pimms mixed and round to John and Maerwins for a BBQ. Lovely evening. Dave and Chris, Dave and Angie were great company. Food was excellent. Must do it again.
Got home just in time to start the 8 hour sleep!
Hi Everyone,
20 six have upgraded so my weblog looks very different. Will get the layout and look changed over the next week or so when normal service will recommence.
Big hugs everyone.
Trees has been stung
Nobody laugh!
Trees got stung this afternoon. Apparently the Bee survived the ordeal but Trees has been left with a nasty bump on her back.
Was not life threatening, Trees has just managed an 18 km cycle using her new cycle computer toy she bought last week.
Been a hectic day. I went over to do the 500m swim leg of the North West Triathlon in Nantwich. Daniel did a great job on the 21km cycle and Stephen twinkle toed his way around the 5km run.
Treated myself to some new running sunglasses which Trees immediately took a shine to and are now in her kit bag. Rank puller!
Lovely sunny day do Trees and I tried out the new Karcher power jet on the patio. Looks sparkling now but without most of the sand grouting that used to be there. I bet we regret that some time in the near future.
A family of House Sparrows have ousted the Wren family out of the nest box. Some times life is just not fair. Big bullies.
Sunburn
Just as I had just got over laughing at Trees and her Bee sting; I managed to get a nasty case of sunburn.
Having got myself in bed early enough to hit my target of 8 hours sleep a night it was a little frustrating to find that every time I moved I woke up with burning from various places on my arms, head and neck.
When Trees woke this morning at 05:00 I had already been awake for an hour. So, I ho, I ho, its off to work we go as the little people with pick axes said. First in the office is not the kind of reputation I want!
And what was Trees doing getting up at 05:00. Apparantly there are 460 users of a new set of PC applications who are just waiting for Trees to hold their delicate little hands. Bless them all.
Another day another exercise
After both rising early we both managed to get away from work a little earlier too. Trees decided the extra we time had should be spent in the gym. Now there is a surprise I hear you say!
So, we tried out Trees' new gym circuit. My Hippo belly is in danger of becoming a little less Hippo if I do much more of those.
I also tried some hell stretches on a number of weight machines. Not sure if they have worked. All looks well at the moment.
Got home just in time to put my feat up and eat when Carl from across the road decided it was time to cycle up the road and back. So it was cycle out of the garage time and back on two wheels for a light 10k around the farms. Great fun if a little unexpected.
Started the Carbo loading tonight. Pasta, pasta and pasta. Oh, and a bit of Pesto to bring a little taste. The first Mountain Marathon is a week Friday. Yikes, nobody panic.
Looks like Trees is up for her first Triathlon later in the year. You never know, she may give us boys a run for our money.
I am sure the day will come soon when our life will take on the normal eating, drinking and slouching to excess. The good old days!
